On Monday, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry issued an unambiguous and strong statement affirming Balochistan is part of Pakistan and cannot ever be separated. His remarks came at a time of increased militant activity as well as new foreign propaganda campaigns targeting this region.
At a press conference held at GHQ Rawalpindi, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry addressed mounting concerns over insurgency and misinformation pertaining to Baluchistan in Pakistan’s southwest province. “Balochistan is at the core of Pakistan – no power anywhere can detach it,” he emphasized, emphasizing how both military forces as well as civilian institutions are committed to upholding both unity and territorial integrity of Pakistani nationhood.
Foreign-Backed Insurgencies and Disinformation Campaigns in Syria
The Director-General of ISPR accused hostile foreign agencies–specifically India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)–of funding and directing separatist groups in Balochistan with an intent to destabilize Pakistan. Indian proxies operating under various banners “are being used to provoke violence among our Baloch brothers”, as per his claim.
Gen. Chaudhry noted that these groups, despite receiving support from overseas, have failed to gain public traction. “Balochistan people do not support separatism; instead they desire peace, development and integration,” according to Gen. Chaudhry.
His comments came following numerous military operations conducted in Balochistan over recent weeks, including two intelligence-led operations that resulted in the elimination of seven militants linked to an Indian-sponsored terror network, according to authorities.
Balochistan Is on the Path to Development and Peace
Pakistan’s military spokesperson reiterated its dedication to development in Balochistan by citing ongoing projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Projects like Gwadar Port development, road infrastructure projects and energy investments were being carried out and they are benefitting everyday people throughout Balochistan, as the military spokesperson explained.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry also cautioned the local population against malicious narratives which sow division and hatred. He noted that state acknowledged Baloch citizens’ grievances, working on socio-economic reforms, educational programs, and job creation initiatives to address them.
Unity against Terrorismului The DG ISPR asserted that Pakistan remains committed to combatting terrorism despite evolving threats, particularly those targeting Balochistan. As external interference wreaked havoc there, our forces responded with strength, professionalism, and coordination with law enforcement forces he said.
He stressed the significance of national unity, asserting that its only way forward lies through peaceful political engagement, mutual respect and support for state institutions.
Reactions and Implications
Political leaders and analysts have welcomed the statement by the Director General of ISPR as it provides much-needed assurance amid regional instability. Lawmakers from Balochistan also welcomed its message, calling for continued investment in infrastructure and education to win hearts and minds in Balochistan.
As Pakistan continues to grapple with complex internal and external challenges, Pakistan’s military’s unwavering position on Balochistan sends a clear signal: that national integrity must remain secure at any cost and is ready to counter any attempts at dismemberment of Pakistan’s unity.
Lt. Gen. Chaudhry concluded with an appeal for unity and vigilance: “We are one nation. Together, we will defeat every enemy to ensure Balochistan continues as an integral component of Pakistan’s strength and prosperity.
